Has anyone told you yet – just stop! You have probably turned into a pain to be around. First of all, acknowledge that there will be some stress. In the lead up to the Big Day, you have experienced more than usual. You have probably been a bit cranky with all and sundry and think that no one understands what you want. Most people are not mind readers so you will have to articulate your thoughts exactly.
But enough of the pre-wedding day stuff. That is behind us now – the day has arrived! In my long experience with Brides, I have learned that “Planning, Preparation & a Little Pampering = A Perfect Wedding” – well, as close as it can be allowing for Murphy’s Law which is always waiting just around the corner! The following tips should help achieve your dream ceremony.
1. Don’t party the night before
2. Be organised – have a running sheet of what is to happen and when on the big day
3. Ensure your hair/make up appointments are early
4. By now, you should have practised wearing your high heels
5. Make sure you have healthy food during the day
6. Be realistic, don’t set your sights so high that no one and nothing can live up to them
7. Be flexible – if something goes awry, adapt, change, or factor it out.
8. Delegate. This works wonders. People want to feel useful so give everyone a job – you end up with nothing to do.
9. Be prepared for something to go wrong – flowers, music, break a nail. Plan your response. Don’t get upset over the little things.
10. Have a ‘survival’ kit – extra stockings, needle & thread, scissors, wet wipes, nail file, safety pins, bobby pins, bandaids, champagne, and more champagne…..
11. Have someone around you who makes you laugh
12. Sing and dance
13. Take time out just for you – have 10 minutes alone in a quiet area. Gather your thoughts and your loving feelings.
14. Be excited – not nervous
15. Breathe
16. Put the biggest smile on your face and keep it there – after all, you are about to marry the love of your life – and you just can’t beat that!
