In a touching moment, mother of the bride, Pamela Lynch, lowered the bride’s veil before Sophie Traynor walked down the aisle on the arm of Adrian Lynch. Groom, Karl Vorderwinkler, stepped forward to greet his bride and placed her hand in his. The intimate ceremony began with a poignant memorial to Karl’s father, Reinhard and to those whose lives our lives are built upon. Karl’s sister, Heidi Vorderwinkler recited the words of P.J. Mayrhofer in “The Journey” while Sophie’s sister, Hannah Broad read her deeply moving prose, “I Am Love”.
I feel privileged to have been part of their wedding day. Mr & Mrs Karl and Sophie Vorderwinkler, as you embrace the future, it seems fitting to combine a small part of both readings, “…I am love and I am yours forever … together as one”.
