I had the honour of being Best Girl for my friend Lorraine Petersen when she and Eddie Vit tied the nuptial knot at their Atherton property. It was lovely to be on the ‘other’ side and gave me a new perspective of what goes on behind the scene – the excitement of dressing the Bride, the nerves, the need to make everything absolutely perfect, and most importantly, the need for laughter. After a lap around the property in Eddie’s pride, the Ford Falcon XR8, Lorraine was escorted to Eddie and given away by long time friend, Ellen Jia.
Robert Lee travelled from Bowen to help his best mate and be the keeper of the rings and Lorraine’s sister, Sharon Dennis, did a splendid job of officiating. The poem “Why Marriage” by Mari Nicholas-Haining invoked a sense of rightness and completeness with the poignant messsage that when two hearts are joined as one, “the possibilities are limitless”.
